Wabash River Station

May 2020

Wabash River Station was a 6 unit power station which operated from 1953 to 2016.  The power plant produced electricity for 63 years, producing 220 million megawatt hours in its lifetime.  The shot consisted of torch cutting as well as product placement and precise timing which allowed the building to roll the way we had planned it to.  There was a massive 200′ switch yard directly in front of the shot as well as a brick building 40′ feet behind that were all spared in during the demolition process.

Springfield Coal Co. was looking for a contractor to demolish our five concrete coal silos. Finding out that another coal company was demolishing similar silos about two hours from ours we made the call to them to see if we could visit their site and talk to their contractor (Demtech, Inc).. Once on site we were welcomed by the mine personnel and met with the Demtech, Inc. personnel. That was the beginning of our almost endless questions that were welcomed and explained in full to us by Demtech Personnel. Once Demtech was on our Site there was continuous communications, so that we knew where they were in the process of demoing our silos. Then came the Demo Days and the communications continued so that everything was a success without any major issues. Demtech is a company that was great to work with and I would recommend that to any company in need of their type services should seriously consider Demtech as an option.
